Woodenbridge Village Development Association

Name: Woodenbridge Village Development Association

Address: Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow

Profile:

Woodenbridge Village Development Association was supported by County Wicklow Partnership in 2012 for the development of a new amenity area at the start of the Sli na Slainte walk in Woodenbridge Village.
Woodenbridge Village Development Association is a voluntary association which formed in April 2011 to develop and enhance the environment of Woodenbridge and the surrounding area. The group also wants to strengthen community awareness through a programme of activities with a view to developing tourism in the area. They are very active and take a ‘hands on’ approach.
The groups first project was the development of the Sli na Slainte walk, with a footpath from Woodenbridge to Avoca.
This project involved the development of a new amenity area at the start of the Sli na Slainte walk from Woodenbridge which is located beside the river and old railway bridge. The work involved replacing the currently broken wooden fence adjacent to the road with a new stone wall and creating a new amenity area with seating and planting.
The project was under construction when CWP visited and we will post photos of this project and other activities by the group later in the year.
