Garda Youth Awards 2019
Deserving young people from across the county were honoured at the fourth annual Wicklow Garda Youth Awards on the 8th of March in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmountkennedy. County Wicklow Partnerships SICAP programme was one of the proud sponsors of the event. Young people who, by their very presence, make their communities or society in general, a better place to live in, were nominated from throughout the County to be honoured at the award ceremony. In addition to individual awards, there were awards for groups of two or more young people whose combined efforts contributed positively to their communities or others in general.
A Special Achievement awards was also presented to people who have defied the odds or overcome difficulties during their lives.
A new award category has been introduced this year, the Community Safety Award, which was presented to an individual who has made their community a safer place to live through a crime prevention or safety initiative or innovation.
A judging panel decided on the outright winners of each category. Nominees that achieved the highest score in each of the four categories were selected to go forward to the National Garda Youth Awards Competition, which will be held in the Garda Training College in Tipperary in April 2019. Well done and huge congratulations to all the deserving winners on the night. You are all inspirational!
