County Wicklow Community Partnership CLG is a Local Development Company that delivers a range of social inclusion, enterprise, family support, employment and community development programmes for individuals and communities in County Wicklow.
County Wicklow Partnership provides resources for the trail network in county Wicklow through the Rural Recreation Office.
To provide a dedicated maintenance resource for the Wicklow trails network.
Responsible for carrying out and recording of preventive maintenance program on various short and long-distance trails in Co Wicklow.
Typical maintenance tasks will include but not limited to vegetation clearance, water management and ensuring waymarking is in perfect working order.
Carry out routine inspections and reporting of trail conditions to relevant stakeholders using provided software.
The role will have an ambassadorial element to it in dealing with queries from the public during the working day. Active promotion of best practise behaviour guidelines on the trail network.
25 hrs weekly over a 5-day working week.
Vehicle Provided by CWP.
Qualifications / Experience: The ideal Candidate will have :
Excellent communication skills with an ability to actively listen to members of the public and stakeholder staff.
Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with the public and private landowners, local state and semi state staff in matters related to trail maintenance and user experience.
The ability to encourage responsible behaviour on the trails network of Wicklow.
The ability to provide a better maintained and managed trail network in County Wicklow. It is expected that the successful candidate will actively identify gaps in service and highlight internally to drive continuous improvement of the service.
Pride in the network of trails in Co Wicklow should be evident in the candidates outward projection to the stakeholders and general public.
A good understanding and knowledge of the landowner and stakeholder’s needs and limitations and how they relate to the trails network.
A proactive mindset in identifying issues and addressing them promptly by working on own initiative, often remotely. Candidate will need to act on their own initiative ensuring efficiency and user experience at the core of decisions taken.
Be able to efficiently organise the working day bearing in mind the size of the geographical area being covered.
Qualifications / Practical Knowledge / Experience
- Good health, strength, and endurance for outdoor physical labour in often adverse weather conditions.
- Understanding of trail construction and maintenance beneficial.
- Appreciation of environmental issues arising from the recreational use and the construction of trails in remote areas beneficial.
- Computer literacy essential. Record keeping via bespoke maintenance software key function of the role.
- Track record of operating in a maintenance team or individually highly desirable.
- Navigation skills required to access remote areas on foot desirable.
- Full clean drivers licence essential. Vehicle supplied.
- Basic hand tool experience essential.
- Understanding for the need of Preventive Maintenance.
- Ability to focus on scheduled taskings and organise activity in an efficient manner.
Package Details:
Salary Band: 26k per Annum
Term of Employment: 1 Year Fixed Term, Part Time, 25hrs over 5 days. (QTY of day’s negotiable)
Location: CWP – Arklow, Remote Working County wide.
