Aughrim has a long tradition of involvement in the National Tidy Towns competition with unparalleled success.The committee have been very active in the development of the town and worked with the LEADER programmes over the last 20 years to provide exceptional amenities. Recently, CWP funded the development of a playground at their centre.Other significant milestones achieved in the village by the local committee over the past few years are:Construction of the National Disabled Angling Facility in the heart of the granite village in 1996.Construction of the Park Pavilion, Information Technology and Crafts Centre and offices at the National Disabled Angling Facility.Construction of a bowling green at the National Disabled Angling Facility which was opened in 2006.Construction of Thrift Shop Extension at the Park Pavilion at the National Disabled Angling Facility, opened in 2010.Construction of Children’s Playground at the National Disabled Angling Facility in 2010
